My Front Yard
While most of my fairy doings involve traveling all over Oakland with the houses, I’ve also got a thriving community right in my front yard. Over the months, I’ve added more houses and furniture. It’s a joy to see neighborhood children out on walks make a beeline for these colorful items.
What I’ve seen is that the kids have an almost uncontrollable desire to touch and play with everything. It was frustrating to watch the parents try to keep the kids’ hands to themselves. And that was my initial thought too, that they look but not touch. But then I decided to make things easy for everyone. I created a large sign inviting the children to play with everything. Yes, that means some things might get broken over time. But I can always make more.
