Henry J. Kaiser Memorial Park

Leaving West Oakland behind, we’ve moved on to visit the downtown parks we missed on our first tour of the city. We were amazed at the Henry Kaiser Memorial Park to see a magnificent sculpture honoring many of the important people in history who have helped humanity move forward. With some research, this is called “Remember Them, Champions for Humanity” by Oakland artist Mario Chiodo. Unveiled in 2013, this bronze work is larger than life size, truly grand in scale.

We added our own gnome home beneath a nearby bush, a bit of whimsy for people to enjoy.
