FM Smith Park

Here we are in FM Smith Park on Park Blvd. Francis M Smith made his money mining borax and hauling it out with mule teams. Hence the mule sculpture in this park. But what’s really special is what he did with his fortune after that. He created the key route streetcar system in Oakland. He built the Claremont Hotel. He donated this park to the city. We always love to learn more Oakland history!
